COPD: Study 2
Research Study for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) The purpose of this research study is to assess how safe and effective three different inhaled investigational medications are when compared to taking open label Spiriva or a placebo in moderate to very severe COPD. Inclusion Criteria include: Males and females at least 40 years of age Diagnosis of COPD Able to meet study specific spirometry criteria At least a 10 pack year history of smoking Exclusion Criteria include: Other known pulmonary diseases Previous lung surgery Oxygen use >12 hours/day Other clinically significant, uncontrolled diseases The study is scheduled to take a maximum of 32 weeks and each subject will receive study treatment for 24 weeks. There will be 11 visits conducted on an outpatient basis. These visits will consist of spirometry, physical examinations, vital signs, laboratory testing, EKGs and the completion of questionnaires. All study related care including study medication will be provided to participants at no cost. Subjects are reimbursed for their time and travel.
